The Day My Life Got Weird
I like adventures but today wasn't supposed to be one. After breakfast I decided to stroll down to the beach to collect some seashells for my necklace. But when I got there, I saw this guy, who was staring at approaching ships. He looked kind of angry. The ships were steadily drifting closer, and the man was still standing there just watching them. I continued looking for seashells but kept an eye on the man and the oncoming ships.
Suddenly, the mysterious man took off running straight towards the towering lighthouse of Alexandria. I watched, intrigued as he climbed the stairs. Soon he reached the top of the incredible lighthouse. I didn't know what he was doing at the time, so I decided to keep my gaze toward the lighthouse to see what he was up to. It was all pretty strange, and little did I know, it was about to get stranger. Why was this mysterious man in such a hurry to reach the top of the lighthouse?
Below the massive tower I stood and watched. The sand was hot beneath my bare feet, and I had to shield my eyes from the blazing sun. The lighthouse towered above me, its white stone glowing in the afternoon light. Then I saw him pick up a colossal mirror and angle it towards the ships. As soon as he did, the light from the sun bounced from the sky onto the approaching ships.
The ships were on fire!
I stood there petrified, wondering how he did it. While I was thinking, the man was ruthlessly bellowing at me, but I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't hear him at first. I didn't know why he was shouting, and in fright, I scampered away.
Later, I was in my room sorting my seashells thinking about my weird day. Why was the man shouting at me? I hear a knock. I don't think anything of it, but then a familiar, not so friendly, face was standing in the doorway.
The menacing mad man with the mirror!
